7 strategies to help your teen transition succesfully into secondary school
Can you remember your first day of secondary school?
I remember it well.
Sitting in the huge hall I remember that moment of terror when I got separated from my best friend Declan Whyte.
We were put in separate classes.
An hour later, sitting at that old fashioned oak desk (which even had a pull-up lid), in that old fashioned classroom, in a school baked with history, surrounded by strange new boys with different accents I remember thinking ‘what is going on?’
It is a bit overwhelming to say the least.
However, things soon settled down.
In fact, it was the best thing to happen – for him and for me.
Deckie made new friends quickly and so did I.
It helped us mature and put us out of our comfort zone quickly.
There are many challenges on the secondary school journey for both students and parents.
To help you prepare for the school year ahead, I spoke to Mary Bradley from Mary Bradley Wellbeing about the 7 Strategies Parents must do to help their child transition from primary into secondary school successfully.
